Claim Your Listing - For Senior Living Communities
Families use this directory at one of the most stressful moments of their lives. The listings that help them most - and get the most attention - are the ones with complete, current, first-hand information. Nobody has that information but you. Claiming your listing and keeping the basics current is free - and communities that share more, earlier, simply have richer profiles for families to find.
We know what this work asks of you - 24/7 staffing, hard medical realities, families in crisis - and this directory isn’t here to grade you. We don’t publish ratings or reviews of any community; we point families to the official records and public review platforms and teach them to read both fairly, including why good communities still get complaints. Your listing is your chance to tell your own story in your own words - especially the thing families most want to hear: how you handle a concern when one comes up.
How claiming works
- Email us at listings@senior.living.community from an address at your community’s domain, with your name, your role, and your community’s name (and the listing URL on this site, if it exists).
- We verify you before anything changes. No update is ever published from an unverified person. We confirm the community against its state license record, confirm your email is at the community’s own domain (or its parent organization’s), and call the community’s published main phone number to confirm your name and role with management. Listings updated this way carry a “Community-verified profile” badge, and every community-provided section is labeled and dated.
- You update - as little or as much as you have time for.
Want to see what you’re working toward? See a complete sample profile → - photos, care capabilities by level, daily life, floor plans, and your own answer to the question families care about most. And see what your directory card looks like before and after claiming - claimed listings show your photo and your profile manager’s name right on the card.
Answer what you can, when you can
We know facility staff don’t have an hour to fill out a giant form. So the questionnaire is broken into short topic sections - each takes about 5-10 minutes, and you can answer them in any order, one at a time. Each section is an online form you can fill out and submit right on the page - answers go privately to our editors, and nothing is published until we’ve verified you. (Prefer email? Numbered answers to listings@senior.living.community work too.) Every section you complete makes your listing more useful to families:
- The basics - beds, rooms, staff, building, ownership
- Care & services - care levels, medical and non-medical services, pets, couples, age requirements, and how you handle complaints
- Daily life - dining, activities, fitness, entertainment, outings, transportation
Managed profiles can also show room types (unit mix, sizes, and features), amenities organized by category (room, community, dining, recreation, services), and - if you choose to share them - date-stamped starting rates and current availability, each clearly marked as provided by your community.
Our recommendation: gather widely, submit from the top. Every submission is published with the submitter’s name and title, right at the top of your profile - it’s the first credibility signal a family sees. Your team’s knowledge is exactly what these questionnaires are after (nobody describes the dining program like your chef), so collect answers from whoever knows each area best - but have your Executive Director or another member of executive leadership review and make the final submission. A profile that says “provided by the Executive Director” tells families your community’s leadership stands behind every word, and that respect carries through everything they read on your listing.
All published content follows our content guidelines - the short version: describe what you do, specifically and honestly; no incident details, no comparisons to other communities. We review everything before it goes live and show you what we plan to publish.
Share photos
Families consistently say photos help more than anything else. We’re starting simple - a photo of the front of your community and your logo - and growing from there. See photo guidelines for what to send and the rights/consent rules.
Introduce your leadership team
Families choose people, not buildings. Claimed listings can include a team page - individual profiles for your Executive Director, Director of Nursing, head chef, activities director, community relations staff, and anyone else who shapes daily life - with each person’s role, experience, and background, in their own words. It’s one of the most persuasive things a listing can carry: a family that recognizes the Director of Nursing’s name on move-in day already trusts you a little. See the sample team page, then email us short bios (a few sentences each: role, years in senior care, what they’re known for at your community).
Free now - and what happens if that changes
Claiming and updating your listing is free. At some point we may charge for the editorial work involved - verifying updaters, editing, and maintaining listings takes real time - but we won’t introduce any charge until this directory is sending communities significant traffic that justifies it. And whatever happens with pricing, one thing never changes: payment will never buy placement, ranking, or favorable treatment - see our promise below.
Our promise
We don’t charge for placement referrals and never accept payment to rank one community above another. We won’t remove links to official inspection records - but you can add your own response and corrections alongside them, and communities benefit when families see the full record with your side included. Your answers are published to help families, attributed to your community, and you can send corrections any time.
